CASology Week 137 - and a funny thing happened...

...on my way to the Tropics.  Oh! First things first - the cue word is Tropical! at CASology this week! You must know at this point I live so far from anything tropical, it isn't even possible for me to imagine it!

I've never been to an island... not even Mackinac! However, to get through this horrid Winter, I have been fantasizing about visiting a little hula-loving, card making wizard by the name of DONNA Mikasa - you all know her, right?  Donna lives in Hawaii- always a dream destination for me. So, this one's for you, dear Donna!

Here is how this embossed base happened: I used a lovely, but much thinner cardstock and discovered, after embossing, that the folder had actually cut through in several places. I always try to accentuate the negative in all things, so went about making a few more strategically placed cuts of my own using a craft blade. The perfect sentiment comes by way of PTI, and I've die-cut the aloha letters from MFT.

I love the look, and hope you do, too!

Edited to say this is on its way over to Virginia's View embossing challenge!!

This is fantastic. I adore those two colors together. And, I have had the PTI set with that sentiment, and for the life of me, could not figure out how and when to use it. Pairing it with Aloha is just brilliant. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.

What a nifty embossing folder!! This card is awesome Michele, terrific colors! I've been to Mackinac Island a few times...love it. In fact I love Michigan, especially the western border. We started at the SW corner and traveled up the coast to the island a couple of years ago visiting lighthouses along the way. Oh, and fresh Michigan cherries...YUMMO!!! Culver's Burgers, Kilwins toasted coconut ice-cream, the search for Petoskey stones...I could go on on on!!!

Don't you love those perfect little happenings?! You sure made a masterpiece from the folder cuts that results in such vivid movement of those waves...genius!
I have not been to Hawaii since 1980 when I traveled with Neil on a plane that had agar and discotheque on the upper level...sounds like a great idea!

I love 'happy' accidents! And I love that you've created this GORGEOUS card from one!! No. Wait. STUNNING. Gorgeously stunning card. You'll have to remember to do this again! Great sentiment too! Love the 'aloha' in the bittersweet color. Oh! I've got tulips starting to come up. Bet you might too. Have a great weekend, my friend. Bev

Michele, you are just so smart. I have had that very same thing happen to me when dry embossing on thinner paper, but I never thought to punch out sections and actually use it! WHY NOT?! You have just demonstrated perfectly how to use "happy mistakes" for the best! Your blue waves are gorgeous, and I have to say I share the same dream of meeting the lovely Donna someday! ;) Thanks for joining us at CASology!

Tropical and totally fun Michele! I just returned from a couple of weekends in the tropics visiting friends and family and it was fabulous.... now it's back to work today (but camping this weekend, so literally no card making for nearly a month now, I'm sure I'm starting to twitch).

Not an 'accident', sweet friend, but 'design innovation' - and in your case, innovation of the most wonderful, creative kind! Reminds me of waves, although like you, we live nowhere near oceans or waves (except when our town was flooded two years ago...but we'd like not to reminisce about that). A trip to Hawaii to see Donna: that would be awesome! Adore your card, Michele...fun and fabulous, just like you!
